Flame Angel and clams?

Will a flame angel pick on clams? Also I have done a search and I cant seem to find just on thread that will tell me how to tell a healthy clam so if someone could let me know what to look for when buying a clam i would appreciate it.

Flame angels are hit and miss with clams. For every success story I know of at least one failure (including a guy who lost all his clams to a flame).

some angels will some wont
look for good mantle extention
no bleaching,rips or other damage
good fast reaction to light changes(pass ur hand between the clam and the light)

so when I pass my hand between the light and the clam they should close up?

it should retract it mantle fast then slowly extend it again,it my or my not close all the way ,u just want a fast reaction

My flame hasn't touched my new clam so far. It has been a month now and nothing has happend. He doesn't pick at SPS or any of my other corals either so I guess I got lucky.
