Flatworm?

Is there more than one flatworm or is there just one (aefw)? If I got aefw do there just eat acros or millis, styli & birdnests and how do I treat them. Flatworm exit work? Help!

There is red planaria, think that's how its spelled. They don't eat acros. But aefw only eat smooth acros, i think, they wont bother your millis, I think.

And flatworm exit is only for red planaria, not aefw. If you do have aefw, read one of the 100 threads on it here in this sps section to see how to deal with them

they will eat millis, some even prefer them

I havent seen any personally that prefer millis, millis are usually last IME, smooth acros first. But have heard of millis being first for some people. Logzor *i think* i recall had these huge milli munchers...maybe mcliffy as well. These milli preferring worms seem to be of a little bit larger variety which lends me to thinking there is more than one, if not several or more species of acropora eating flatworms.

Acropora is still key as to my knowledge none have been found to eat montipora, stylophora etc..............yet. Certainly wouldnt surpise me if there are though knowing there are countless different predatory obligate feeding flatworms

Interesting.. I was under the assumption that they didn't eat millis but that is probably the redbugs not eating millis that I am thinking of.

Red planaria flatworms are visible to the eye and red and
you will see a ton of then on the rocks and sand. Aefw are invisible on the acros, dip it and see what comes off. Why do you think you have aefw? Are you seeing bite marks on corals?

How to tell if is aefw of fw?

if you have little bite marks on yoru coral and have tiny oval shaped flatworms its a pretty good indication

but just becasue a flatworm is on your acro doesnt mean its munching on it. If you have acoel or planaria you can often find them on your corals as well, but the difference is you will also see them on the rocks and glass. The acro eaters will be only on your acros, and the bite marks stand out like a sore thumb once you see them once
