florida ricordea

Are ricordea a good coral to start with in a tank? My 75 has been cycled for a few weeks, and I was wondering if this would be good to start with. I have 2 250 Watt halide for lighting. 20 gallon sump with a coralife 220 skimmer, and 130 lbs of live rock in my display.

Sure why not but there are cheaper and hardier mushrooms to go with that would be more suitable as a starter. but if you dont care about price and this isnt your first tank then go for it.

Floridas are pretty tough. There are probably better choices for starter corals, but I don't think a florida is a particularly bad choice.

There gorgeous mushrooms, i just picked one up last weekend. With that much light you'll probably want to keep them lower, but i have read that florida ricordeas (unlike the yumas) like a lot of light. It would definatly add some nice color to a new tank.

Thank you all for replying. The reason I would like to start with the ricordea is because of the many colors to choose from. I eventually want a tank full of different kinds of colorful coral. Most of the corals to begin with are not very colorful, and this is my reason for asking. I think I might get one and see how it goes. Thanks
