Flourescent light fixture

Hello,

I built a stand and canopy for my 140G and its time for the light fixture.
This will be a FOWLR tank so I'm planning on using NO flourescent tubes. Can these be run off of regular Flourescent light fixture of appropriate wattage, sealed for moisture even though the tank has a glas top or must I use something that is specific for aquariums.

Any feedback appreciated......Thanks

Thank you for your feedback and reply. I thought I had heard or read that it would work....I just didn't want to blow/burn out two new tubes of powerglo 48" in a fixture if it was a no no.

Thanks again :)

Thats what I used when I started my reef.Had softies and lps growing.I had 5 NO bulbs over my 58 gallon.

as long as they are high enough from the water surface that they dont get splashed or collect salt you should be ok.
