Flow for 25 Gallon Cube?

Can anyone recommend what a good brand or size pump would be for a 18" x 18" x 18" cube? Would like to be able to keep whatever SPS, LPS, etc..

The return is built in. The Cube is a Solana with everything stock. You think I would need 2 pumps?

From what I read I like the Tunze Nanostream 6045. But if I'm going to do 2 of them I really don't want to spend $175 in pumps for a Nano.

The Tunze 6045 has 1189 Gal/Hour. Would one be good enough with the return pump?

I love the flow and foot print of a ecotec MP pumps. I have a mp20 dialed way down in my softie Lps tank and love it. Their isn't anything worse than cluttering up a display with ugly powerheads.

the mps are cool. cubes are tricky for flow. i'd bet your going to end up with dead spots. unless you want to stick a ph on something other than the back wall. the gph isn't the issue with cubes. i haven't found a way to make a single ph work on a cube.

I'm a huge fan of 40-50X flow. I like the Tunze and use two a 6045 & 6025, and don't know how you could do better for your money, and get the same kind of dynamic flow yet still have a relatively small nice looking pump that you can change the direction of the flow. (2)6025 for <$130 would be a very good choice imo.

I'm one of the few who isn't as impressed as everyone else is with the vortech pumps. I've got 2 on my 30long, and they are definitely nice, but IMO, not worth the hefty price tag.

I think it really comes down to how much "stuff" you want to see in the tank. If you really want to keep it clean, than a vortech is far and away your best bet. If you don't mind seeing a little, I'd probably block off the stock return and run the return over the top of the tank. I'd run 1 big return line split 3-4 times, then use locline fittings to really control the flow. That will give you the most flexibility and probably cost you less than a vortech.

If you want to be able to keep anything, then make sure you go with something you can control the flow rate on. The vortech controllers do it if you go that route, so that's not a problem. If you go with a bigger return pump, make sure you run a good valve so you can dial back the flow if/when needed.

With all that said, I'd be looking at the most flow you can afford. I think 500gph at the output is an absolute minimum, and wouldn't hesitate to look at something around 1000gph.
