Flow for Fish

I have a 75g fowlr that I'm putting the final touches on, I've got 2 MJ 1200's but I don't think they have enough flow. Would adding 2 Hydor Koralia 3's be to much current for clowns, gramma, and other smaller fish. Also if I'm not doing corals, do I need a lot of flow.

If you had somewhere about 1000gph through your 75 I would say your in great shape. I have 2 600gph powerheads, one in each rear corner projecting towards the front center. They move the water around great and cause some pretty chaotic flow because there basicaly slamming into eachother in the front of the tank.

I have a 55g and just bought two Hydor Koralia #2’s and have been in love with them ever since. They add really good “random” flow to your tank, which is something the MJ1200’s can’t provide. I’ve got a Niger Trigger and he’ll stick his face right up to the Koralia’s and swim for several minutes at a time. He really seems to enjoy them, lol. I’d recommend that you try one of the #3’s and use the MJ1200’s to hit dead spots. If you find that your fish enjoy the “random” flow, get two of the #3’s. Just my opinion

I would get at least 20x turnover in the display going, minimum. Even more would be better, imo. The Hydor deflectors won't give you the flow that a prop-style powerhead will give you. It will even cut down on the flow some. I'd do the Koralia's or some Tunze Nanostreams. ;)
