Flow Plan for a 40 breeder Azoox tank

I have 4 mp10wes laying around from various builds that I plan to incorporate. My tank is a 40 breeder (36x18x16) My apex will allow the flexibility with the vortech pumps.

My thought was to put 2 on each side glass diagonal from one another, so I would have one on the top left and one on the bottom right as you look at each side. (I'm going bare bottom) and have them run in long pulse in a GYRE that would change direction every 3 hours and run nutrient tansport mode for a half hour for a half hour between each direction swap to keep as much food in suspension as possible.

My other thought was to just run the right pumps for 3 hours then just the left pumps for 3 hours with a half hour of nutrient transport between each swap.

What are your thoughts?

Thats an excellent idea to run 4 Vortechs, one that i have personally already visualized/incorporated utilizing 4 MP40wESs on a 300G, in a cross-counter formation which provides the option of alternating Gyre flows; among multiple other flow options to say the least !

However, while my flow logistics are 100% overkill as well (also run a Tunze 6215 Wavebox), two MP10s on opposite side panels of that 40B would be more than ideal ... Unless, like myself, you just cant help yourself when it comes to ReefKeeping perfection :D

If you do decide to incorporate the "Vortech Masterpiece" I would suggest running the "currents" for 3+ hours at a time as your default setting, versus a shorter time interval, to allow for a more natural progression of flow ...

While currents on the reef can change directions rapidly, under certain environmental/weather factors, they tend to run one way for a prolonged period before alternating direction(s).

Given that you will be incorporating the BB methodology I dont foresee any problem running them diagonally to eachother. However, with that said, the undertow these pumps produce is phenomenal so I would suggest to favor running them higher up on the panel.

Hope that helps, glad to help out a fellow ReefKeeper with a similar vision of flow logistics :)

I have 4 mp10s laying around anyway. So, may as well use them! Do you think that having the Gyre is a better solution or a full laminar flow by only running one side at a time and have the other side completely off. Then swapping every 4 hours. I would still have the short pulse mode kick up every so often just to ensure I'm not getting any dead spots for detritus to collect.
