Flow

Im running 2x Tunze 6105's in the 150g. Do you think its enough flow ? I mostly have SPS now. I was thinking of adding 2x MP10's or 2x 6055's . Thanks.

They say you can never have too much flow, but depending on the placement of your pumps and what kind of flow rate and sequence you have them set at. I have 2 x 6100 and 2 x 6055 in my 180. The only reason for the extra 6055's was due to the amount of rock and groth of corals, just trying to hit the dead spots. I couldn't imagin 2 x 6100 wide open in a 4' tank without it blowing your sand bed off the bottom.

I have them around 4" from the top on opposite ends pointing at each other. The are running 80%-100% every few seconds. I also have the return(pan world 50px-x) pump wide open but it is running 2x TLF phosphate reactors. I had Dino in the sand but since lower light cycle, vodka dosing, and adding phosphate/carbon problem is gone. I think the problem that started the Dino was I found a 6+" chalice dead in the sand , but thought flow may be a problem to. :sad1: Confusing

Rodger,

When I had your tank set up, I was running (2) 6101's and (1) 6055 on the backwall. The 6101's were running about 75% at the 12V setting.

I couldn't crank them up anymore without blowing flesh off milli's or having sand everywhere... Growth and PE on my SPS was very good at this flow rate.

I think you have enough in a 4' tank if you are running them at full voltage, I would adjust placement and direction etc. and see if it gets better.
