Flow...

So I added a second powerhead to my 80 gallon today... can I get some help with positioning please.

I have one Jebao PP8 and one Jebao SW8. I have them set to master and slave on the W2 setting (gentle wave)... they are positioned on the sides almost at the back pointed toward the front glass. Is this a good position?

The reason I ask is I have a few small frags and they were getting blasted. I have the powerheads turned down to the lowest setting...

Positioning is tank and aquascape specific. The goal is to limit/eliminate dead spots, provide adequate flow to corals that need it and not blast ones that don't. It can be tricky. You may find you need to move some coral frags if possible.

i have best luck using the glass. aiming the pump at the tank and letting the water deflect where i want it to go. this seems to be better then direct aim at the low flow area

100% agree!

I have also found that pointing powerheads at the glass and allowing the glass to disperse the wave to be the optimal setup for me.

In my 80 cube I have 2 mp10 on each side of the glass. One up high blowing across the tank to the other wall where it disperses the flow. The other mp10 is down low and blows through my rockwork nearly eliminating dead spots.

On my back glass I have 2 PP-8's that are programmed through my apex for short bursts. The are pointed toward my front glass where it smacks the glass and disperses the wave into more of a random pattern.

FWIW, 2 mp10 on 80% and 2 PP-8's on short 90% bursts seems to work well for me and my 99% LPS tank with plenty of euphyillia which do not like to be blasted with flow.

Not to jump topics - but how do you like the Jabao powerheads? Was thinking of picking up a few since they aren't the way overpriced Echotech's..

Im probly to new to answer this but from a new guys perspective... easy to program.. easy to install... I've been happy... I just need to figure out the best position for them.
