They are my new favorite corals (until somethingelse catches my eyes that is). I bought them recently after several articles came out regarding their improved survival in captivity. I feed the tank rotifers without spotfeeding them. Hopefully that suffices. Only time will tell. For now I just enjoy their beauty. What magnifcent animals!!!!

Green goniopora. I waited long and hard for a bright green specimen and finally found it.

My clonws decide to call it home

Purple goniopora that turned blue recently

Green branching alveopora, supposedly easier to keep than Gonio. It seems to grow a bit already after 2 months in my tank

And finally, the breath-taking (can I hear drumrolls please ) red with purple center goniopora

Nice pics! How long have you had them - I've read that they are difficult to keep??

you really captured the red in that goni. I've got one that i nursed from a bleached out ghost. When I got it you could only see a little purple around the mouth. Its now the size of a tennis ball extended. I've a lot of DOM in my tank so I don't target feed perse.

That's not a galaxa behind it in the first pic is it?

Man all those are nice!
How hard is it to find the red one?
My wife would love that for valentines day.
Can this be fragged?

Beautiful pictures

I've had them for about 2 months. The green coral in the background in the first pic is greenstar polyps.

The red gonio are available only occasionally, unless you live in Southern California. I don't know if it can be fragged.

Very nice :)
Love the coloration of the purple/blue and red. Not quite the same shades as ours but very striking. Good job

How about sending a frag my way? :D

Kerry,
It was your work and documented success among others that encouraged me to keep them. Thanks for the compliments.

Awesome!:cool:They are my favorite too.Can I ask where you got the red/purple? I tried to get one but it was shipped poorly and died.:( I did find a pink with yellow center that is awesome.I also have the alveopora, and purple as you have... and am getting a plain red stuchburyl. That red/purple would complete my collection.

I must plug a local fish store that is a vendor on RC.

Fin and Feather. Site might not look like much but John is a great guy and he will get you what you are looking for.

Anyway, Justin Credible (yes thats his name) writes for RK mag and has done a few articles on the web. He has been extremely successful with keeping Goni's. He used to work there for years b4 he recently broke off to start coral research at UCONN. Read some of his articles and buy some captive bread Goni's from F&F.

Thanks guys! I bought these in SoCal except for the bright green gonio which I bought from a LFS in Utah.

Here is a new pic of the purple-turned-blue gonio, just to show how blue the polyps are.

Gorgeous! :eek2: That's funny you should mention an LFS in Utah..over a year ago I purchased a crocea clam and a Tomini tang online from an LFS in Utah. What a nice guy to deal with. One of the only times I ever got a fish online..boy was I sweating that delivery..but all came through great.

Under different lighting conditions, it can turn a reddish color too.
