Fluidized bed filters do a good job reducing nitrogenous waste to nitrates, and sulfur-based nitrate reactors do a good job eliminating nitrates. On paper, combining the two seems to provide all the active filtration a reef system needs. Has anyone tried dumping their skimmer in favor of a fluidized bed (or similar) filter paired with a nitrate reactor?
