Fluorescence in green star polyps

No, an electron microscope does not work with light, hence cannot excite fluorophores in coral. This is a normal biological microscope.

Are you using actinic lighting to stimulate the flourescents?
 
Thanks for the comments. Actinic light - not really. I use a metal halide lamp through a GFP filter cube that excites the coral with blue light between the wavelengths of 446 – 486 nm.
