Fluorescent + LED

Soon I will have a Wave-Point 36-Inch 78-Watt 2 Bulb High Output Lighting System as well as a Finnex Planted+ 24/7 Fully Automated Aquarium LED above my tank. Since the fluorescents cannot be ramped up or down, I will gradually increase the light from the LEDs when a timer is about to switch on the fluorescents. When the Wave-Point comes on, I will shut off the Finnex. I can also use the Finnex for a moonlight for a few hours after the Wave-Point shuts off. I can always just leave the Finnex on the 24/7 sunrise to sunset cycle, but it produces too much red light for too long, which I understand will promote cyanobacteria growth. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Sure.. many use a "hybrid" setup with T5/LED or MH/LED or whatever..
Many like the "shimmer" effect that LEDs (point source lighting) gives and miss that with fluorescent bulbs that do not produce a shimmer..
Personally I don't like shimmer at all and find it distracting..
