Flushing of RODI units

I finally installed my TyphoonIII RODI unit from Air,Water&Ice. I know that it is normal and in fact required that water be flushed down the drain during the creation of RODI water. I can hear the trickle of water in my previous RODI units. The problem I have with my new install is that when I leave the “fast flush valve Black handle” in the closed or open position, water is gushing out the “drain”. The instructions say “closed when the handle is at right angle to the tubing”; open when it is in line. I draining of water only slow to a trickle when the handle is at a 45 degree angle to the line.

Does any one know what the correct position should be for normal operation ?

It should have a stop. Turn until againt the stop which should be 90 degrees to the line. That's exactly how mine works. If you feel there is a problem still, I believe they have their own vendor forum here on RC. It's possible something inside, such as the flow restrictor is not seated correctly or even missing.

I'm certainly no expert, only experience is from my unit.

It stops at the 45 degree angle. I guess that's what I will do when I am not "making water". Not used to having to "stop" since my previous unit had a pressure tank and drained directly under the sink.

Hmm, something doesn't sound right about the 45 degree angle. I don't have the same unit as yours but I believe most of them with a flush valve work the same way, handle inline to flush and 90 degrees to make RO. The flush position should produce significantly more pressure out the drain than when pushing water through the RO membrane. As suggested, I'd check and confirm with Air Water Ice.

The valve used to flush the filters when open to flush the filters, there is a large volume of water exiting the waste line. When in closed position which is necessary to make RO/DI water, the volume decreases to a slow flow out the waste line.

If needed, I can take pictures but volume of water exiting the waste line should help.
