Fluval edge owners

I've had my fluval for about 10 weeks. I was wondering how you all have your filters setup. I have the stock filter. From the bottom up I have filter floss ,sponge Chemipure , then bio balls. My nitrates are between 10-20 anything sound wrong here. Any suggestion. I also have about 4lbs of rock and a 1 inch Sandbed

I've seen everything from the stock HOB filters, small canister filters, to a sump.

I have used all three of these, had a problem with the stock HOB filter impeller jamming on me and got rid of it after about a year of having my tank stocked. I have a 2.5g sump on it now with a skimmer.

As far as your nitrates are concerned, it sounds like your tank just finished it's cycle. I know if you don't do a water change the nitrates from the cycle will stay in your system and increase if they can. A couple of small water changes seems like my first guess, but I might be way off.
