Hi Guys,

Its early in my build so i have been prepping.

Current design will be 200 gallon, 70lx22wx30t. The tank is designed so that one wall is an overflow which is 22 inches long.

The goal of the build will be to have 1 side of it in my family room, and 2 sides of it will be in my patio.

Currently planned equipment will be:

2x250 MH DE
2x80w T5 (for supplemtn
LED moonlight
Reef octopus extreme 200 w/ bubble blaster pump
1/3 hp chiller
sump
refugium
reeflo snapper as return pump
Oceans Motions 4 way for flow from the return pump
Auto top off with Rodi ( with rodi float valve)
ATS
Ecotech 40wes
Calc reactor
Auto Fish Feeder
APEX (coming soon)

I have considered running a closed loop for the OM, but prefer to keep it simple. However, my worry is that there may not be enough flow. Calculating the headloss, i think it will have around 1,800 gph.

The tank will be a mixed reef with some islands. I will be doing some pillar rock work as well as some extreme ledges.

The goal of my build is to make this take as automated as possible. I really am hoping to have the tank running by itself with my time being spent on few basics like cleaning skimmer, a few water changes here and there...

here is the wall that the tank was going into. It's suppose to be a 3 sided peninsula tank where half of it was in the patio.

Here is my guy getting ready to open the wall.

Here is where the troubles start. Upon opening the wall we see a 4x6 and 2 2x4's.

At this point the dream of having a peninsula tank into the patio was dead

Being persistent, I found another spot, however now it's a standard in wall, not a peninsula. I don't get that pdiddy pimpness.

The bottom section below the tank will have my entertainment center which has my receiver, ps3, directv, wifi, etc... its a bit scary having all my electronics under the tank.

All the filtration and equipment is located in a small patio room adjacent to the fish tank.

Looks great so far, although real bummer on the first wall. I'm currently setting up a 72 by 30 wide by 22, and I think you'll have flow issues. I've got three 6105s and an mp40, and I still have substantial dead spots. Someday I expect to upgrade to 6205s.

What are your plans for spacing out the lights with the two halides?

For the halides, i'm running 2x250 hqi on a sunlight supply reflector. I think the coverage won't be an issue. Actually my tank is a bit shorter as my overflow takes up 5 inches on the right side.

For flow, i'm starting with the dart on a oceans motions and a vortech mp40w.

If i'm still lacking, which i may, i will add another vortech to the mix but would need to build a custom dry box to slide into the overflow...

Looks like a good start, the little closet outside works out perfectly IMO. Are you going to have anything below the tank or is it going to stay open?

Too bad for the peninsula plan, I love mine and be able to view 3 sides.
Good luck with the built..

The space below the tank will be for my entertainment unit which holds my receiver, ps3, wifi, etc.

Yah the closet works perfectly! It's keeps all the noise outside and allows me to have easy access and not too cramped.
