foam to block micro bubbles

the flow through my sump is HUGE

consequently I have a micro bubble problem

I am interested in trying some sort of foam or filter floss between a baffle before I resort to turning the flow down (right now I might not need any power heads in the tank, which would be awesome)

anyone have any ideas?

A filter sock, like stated above, will resolve your problem.

Take a picture of the sump for us. Maybe we can tell you how to fix it some other way...

I already have a filter sock on it!

it cut the bubbles by about 40%, but still nowhere near where I need to be

I'll post a few videos later today, then you can see the water movement in action

Pictures would help. I played around with the output into the sump and used this design. It cuts down quite a bit on the microbubbles. My first baffle is an under flow - that way bubbles rise to the top of the first chamber instead of flowing over.

IMO, foam blocks never work. The old CPR PAKBak "bubble trap" I once had utilized one and it was worthless.

What Mike shows in his pic will help. Anything to slow down the water and release air before it forms bubbles in the water column.

What size micron filter sock are you using? you might need something a little finer. I used 50 micron socks until all my pipes slimed up and i never had any bubbles escape. I still have a bunch lying around you can have if you want to try. LMK

can you extend the pipe to the bottom of the sump and put a small air outlet at the top? with a tube running up so no overflow
