To bare bottom tank owners? Is there any concern that the live rock could cause any damage to the bottom of the tank?

If it falls or topples it could. Some use a piece of starboard or acrylic on the bottom of the tank.

risk depends on the size of the tank and the amount of rock. I did put some HDPE down on the bottom of my tank, but that was definitely more for looks than protection. I wouldnt be overly concerned with a rock slide tank failure, but if you have unique scenario you may put some effort into mitigating the concern.
