food for golden puffer

My golden puffer refused to eat anything else except for clams and scallops. I don't know if these strict diet contain enough nutrition for it? any suggestions?

Start mixing other pieces of food down into the clam/scallops. He will get the taste for them.

Or something I've found good is to soak your foods in Selcon. That stuff is quite "smelly" and fish normally love it. First just soak your regular foods in it, the fish get to liking that taste, then you can start soaking other foods into it and they all taste pretty similar once they've absorbed the Selcon. Your fish should just start orienting on that taste and not really caring what food is carrying the Selcon juices :)

Agree with Recty 100% on the selcon. Most fish I've seen (including many picky puffers) go crazy over selcon soaked food. Really good stuff.

Recty & Grouperhead,

do you think the puffers like silverside?
I've only had one puffer and he basically ate anything meaty. I'm sure I fed it silversides from time to time.

I have a "Golden Arothron" he is also very fussy with his food, and is chewing large chunks off the live rock as we speak. He has developed a preference for uncooked prawns, squid, and Coral Frags, Coral heads being there natural diet! However it is very expensive to keep buying those Frags for him. By the way, they also love to eat "Caulerpa Algae" as a treat. I hope this information helps you.
