Does anyone know what is needed to be able to access the classified sections to post items for sale and buy items? Just curious. Thanks

It will show up on the main page a day or so after your 50th post

So, here's my first post.

I am getting back into reefing and need all equipment. It'd be great to have access to used equipment from people who are actually enthusiasts. Craigslist isn't even an option to me due to the potential for the items destroying the life I'll be putting in my aquarium.

So, why can't I buy from the for sale forums as a new user, who actually needs to buy a bunch of stuff? In 90 days, I'll have most everything I need and they won't be much of a benefit to me anymore.

I have no issue not being able to sell until I'm established, but not being able to buy is silly.

Because that's not what Reef Central is about. This site is about the exchange of information. The rule has been around since long before I joined. You may purchase from someone in a local forum if you have one.

There is still ebay and alot of companies are running killer black friday sales right now.

Trust me there is always a benefit after the 90 days, either to try out something new, setup qt tanks, ect.

Don't forget that many boards suffer from scammers that take advantage of honest hardworking people b/c they are allowed to post in the for sale forums immediately. This rule helps to protect us.

I have had good success on Craig's list. Spent. A lot of time here learning the. Went shopping kind of knowing what I wanted. If possible it is best to have the tank up and running to ensure no leaks and equipment is operating properly.

Craig's list is a good source (all the folks that did not quarantine and are getting out of the hobby) for the best equipment for the least cost.
