with 3/4 inch glass did you see that much of a differance going from glass to starphire. im looking at a 220 starphire tank.

the biggest difference is in the seams....also with starfire there has been noted issues with scrathching to it being softer

Yes you will see a big difference in the seams but I see a difference everywhere also. I have regular glass on the back and the overflows are also glass - they are very green with this thickness. As far as scratches, I haven't seen a difference. I walk pass my acrylic tank and scratches seem to jump on it - LOL.

I have 3/4 sf in the panels and regular glass on the bracing. if you look up through the sf into the bracing you can see a HUGE difference. I am convinced I went the right route.

why do you need 3/4 on a 220/g I have a 120x36x30 (560/g) with 3 side starfire. my bottom is 3/4 and sides are 1/2. The builder has the same size tank going on 15 years now with no problems

maybe its a rimless tank...that would explain the thickness? Or a very deep tank....The dimensions weren't mentioned...

It was going to be a deep tank 36'' but after thinking about it i am having it cut to 30'' i am going with the starphire(PPG) on three sides 72*24*30 i like a large viewing tank. now the problem will be lighting i have mostly SPS. any thoughts

3x250W Mh if you go with a 10K bulb, 3x400w Mh if you go with a 14-20k bulb. I prefer electronic ballasts (ice cap) and lumenarc mini reflectors!

I love me starphire tank, the color is so ,much better then with a standard glass tank. As for scratching easier, I've never found that to be true maybe with the cheaper glass starphine glass it is but not with the PPG brand.

I have 4 lum III's with pfo hqi 400's radiums on mine. I agree if your going with say xm 10k's and actinics 250's are fine.

I have an A.G.E tank with Starphire front - got a scratch on the exterior of it. Must have got something stuck in the magnet.
