foreign polyps/featherdusters on sps

i have a brown (turning teal)) stag that has a few of what look like featherdusters or polyps on it that are white, and don't belong. they open and close pretty rapidly, getting food out of the water column.

one guy i talked to suggested they might be snails that are harmless?

at first glance, they looked to be IN polyp cavities of the coral, but i think they are extra bumps.

any ideas?

alot of mine have them...they are not a problem as far as I know

open is when they are open

cycles about 1 time per second.

ive had those before, harmless, i think there some kind of mollusk

Barnacles that live in the SPS. The only harm they do is inhibit growth directly where they are located.

thanks guys... they're kind of in teh elbows, so i don't think that will inhibit a lot of growth.
