formia star

I noticed the other night that all the sudden my formia star has a dark spot on it, and is now missing an arm that i seen behind my rock. Does anyone have some helpfull info on what caused this? Also like 4 of my hermits have dissappeard lately. I have 4 hermits and a pom pom in my tank.

How long have you had the star? My first guess as to its problem is that it is starving. The condition you describe is typical, but given the disappearance of other critters it is possible you have a predator in there, possibly a mantis, although I dont think hey have a taste for starfish.

Could you describe your tank in a little detail? How long has it been set up, size, filtration, water parameters?

about 2-3 weeks. I am running a 24g aquapod. last time i had my a,ph,rate,rite checked they all looked good. salinity is a hair below 30. Tank has been runin for 4 months.
