Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
Ok, for those of you who haven't been paying attention to Julie's thread, I'll be putting in a Dry goods order from Foster&Smith... Anyone who wants to get in on it to save some shipping costs is more than welcome... I have to get some MaxiJets, Aragonite, Reef Dip, etc... I'd like to have it in by Saturday or Sunday... LMK

Thanks,
Randy

Sorry Randy, I checked and I just don't need anything from there. The only real thing I need in the way of dry goods is a bit of large sized substrate. I will need it for the jawfish that I am ultimately going to get. They like the bigger pieces to make a burrow with. But the Doctor's do not seem to have the 2-5.5 mm sized stuff.

Sorry about that!!

Thats alright... I kick myself in the @ss for not picking this stuff up at Premium Aquatics... Didn't know I was going to be setting up the 75... Oh well... That and I've discovered a few Red Bugs... Hence the urgency...

Randy,

I need some dry goods too in light last month's meeting discussion.

Lugol's Solution CD-197208 $10.99 1oz
Strontium and Molybdenum CD-234078 16 oz $9.99
Reef Dip CD-438400 250 ml $7.99
I couldnt find FWE

Chris/Fishdoc posted a method he's using and it seems pretty much all inclusive. I wanted to order all that was necessary but it seems I need a Rx to get the interceptor. He's given permission to add his method to our club's site so it shouldnt hurt to post here (hope it doesnt hi-jack too much:D )

"Interceptor for 6 hours at at least 5 x's strength in a 5 gal bucket with about 3 gallons of water with a very small powerhead.
FWE added for the last hour of the dip(same bucket) at 8 - 10 x's strength.
Sea Chem reef dip added to the same bucket at 2x' strength for the last 10 - 15 minutes. [or TMPCC(Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure)supposed to be more effective for AEFW]

All this is followed by a good shake in the bucket before removal. I have performed this dip on several corals with no ill effects to the corals but have to wait for long term results as I have just started adding the FWE at a high strength with the threat for AEFW. I do know the Interceptor dip for red bugs seems to work as I have been doing that for a couple of years now. "

If you add the TMPCC, you really don't need the Interceptor or the FWE 'cause it's already in there. If enough people want Interceptor, I can get some through a friend. A box of 6 tabs is like $50.

Where did you get that info Dave? I was under the impression that it's just a strong iodine dip. From what I understand and have seen the TMPCC stuns but doesn't kill. Interceptor and FWE kills. Also an Interceptor or FWE dip needs to be a considerable amount of time longer than 10 - 15 minutes which is recommended for TMPCC.

Ya got PM squeak:)

Chris

Well, I won't need the Reef Dip, if this other stuff works better for Red Bugs... I'm just sad because a couple of my corals are infested... :( I'd rather they feel better sooner rather than later... Luckily it only seems to have affected 3 so far... Which have been removed to a QT... I'm keeping a watchfull eye on the rest though...

I stand partially corrected. I had read where people were treating with TMPCC with evidence of redbug and FW die-offs on newly acquired corals. Not a whole-tank treatment, though, and probably not the best option for infested colonies. If you've got bugs, I'd assume all colonies are infected and treat them all or they'll likely return.

Bumpity bump bump... Making another order... Anyone want in??? Will be ordering in the next couple days... :) So I can probably bring it to the meeting if anyone wants something...

I would like 1 skunk cleaner shrimp, but only if there is no shipping charge. Otherwise, it makes more sense to support our LFS.

One blonde is all I can handle... :) And even then its too much at times... Haven't you seen that Bud Light commercial when the guy on the island wishes for two women??? lol

If it isn't too late, I would like to add in the following:

CD-525091 Pro-Scraper with short handle $6.79
CD-525104 Stainless 3" Replacement Blade $3.99
CD-970393 Medium Mag-Float Glass Scrubber $7.69
CD-14035 Refractometer (10oz) $39.99

Total: $58.46 plus my portion of shipping.

I won't be able to pickup or pay until Thursday through next weekend, though.
