My Peppermint Shrimp in my 2.5 gallon is missing. I looked everywhere and then noticed a Clam hanging on the back of the large Live Rock piece I put in there. It is Carribean rock. Is it Possible that....well that is the only place I could not look, in the Clam. it is pretty large and was open a little bit when I looked at it. When I moved the rock it closed up. Is this clam good for the tank? And has anyone had a hitchhiker like this?

I've had a bunch of different clams and bivalves on various pieces of live rock I've gotten. I have 6 peppermints and 2 cleaner shrimp in my tank and have never had a problem with them being eaten (as far as I know all clams are filter feeders and not predators) or accidentally smashed (which may be more likely if the shrimp tries to pick at the clam, but still pretty unlikely). the only thing I'd be worried about is if the clam is big enough (and/or tank small enough) it might cause a small cycle should it die.

I have had many clams on Florida live rock. It is hard to find live rock around here with much more than a few little purple patches on it. If I am going to spend the price of live rock I sure want something on it.
