I have a fairly large colony of fox coral (about10 inch ball). It has been doing very weill in my tank for awhile. I have had the tank at least a year and I am not sure how long it was in the tank before then.
The problem is that in the last few weeks the middle of the coral began to look like it was turning into long white cylinders. It almost looks like long grain rice, but not quite as big around. This has continued until I can now see the rock in the middle of the colony. This has been accomanied by the coral taking on a darker color at times.
I have other pieces of fo coral that I have moved to other parts of the tank and they are flourishing, however this main part seems to be rotting away. However right next to this pice there are new pieces growing rapidly.
Could this just the the coral dividing? Or is there something worng?
