Foxface help

Last night when I got home I noticed that the water had dropped in my sump and it was spitting the water/air mix into my tank. My foxface was at the top of the tank with his mouth sticking out of the water and looking stressed (he turned color from his normal yellow day color). I refilled the sump with fresh water, turned off the light and left the tank alone-outside of checking the salt which was a little high since it needed fresh. The last water change was two weeks ago and my other fish seem to have no problems. As of this morning he was still at the top of the tank-mouth wasn't out of the water...and still looked stressed. Please help.

Give him time. They tend to get the drab colors when they are stressed or sleeping. Mine used to occationally pop it's month out of the water from what I can remember.

If he's breathing rapidly, swimming erratically, or weirdly staying in just one spot at the top of the tank (and especially if your other fish start looking bad), then you should be worried. But if he's just in his camo coloring for awhile, I wouldn't sweat it. Mine occasionally (and inexplicably) goes camo during the daytime hours for decent stretches of time, and seems none the worse for wear. Foxfaces are really tough, hardy fish.

As of last night he was still alive, I kept the lights off hoping it would help with the stress...and right now he's hiding in the back somewhere behind the rocks.

just give him time eventually he will come back out mine did something similar to what yours is doing and in about a week he was back to swimming around the tank. hope that helps
