Hi All! yesterday I bought a beautiful Foxface. The Yellow Tang who has been there for 3 months started right awayI turned off the lights and said good-night. this morning they were at it again.
Can anyone tell me how to control my tang from picking on my foxface?
I'm sure it's a turff dispute, but how long do these usally last?
Any help will be great.
thanks,
Murph

yeah yellow tangs can be fairly territorial the best thing to do is turn off your lights for the day and if you can re arrange your rocks pretty good and that will confuse the tang and he won't recognize his territory and then he shouldn't go after the foxface anymore

Rearranging the rocks is usually the best solution. Otherwise one of them is going to kill the other over their territory.

There is noting worse then when good fish go bad and start turf wars.

55 is prolly on the small side for these two,

i agree seeing you added foxface after the tang being in there for that time i believe it's time to make a decision my two cent's lose the tang before you lose the foxface

That may work well or at least a temporary fix. Divide the tank into two with a divider where they can see each other. Rearranging the rocks as my first thought as well. If you can't divide the tank or if they don't calm down soon you may have to remove one.

The tang might calm down once it's decided it has shown it's dominance. My purple tang really put my flame angel in place when I added it, but once it was sure that it was clear it was the boss things were fine.

Let us know,
Good luck,
Jon
