Frag tank lighting

i am looking for some not too expensive lighting for my frag tank that is 3ft* 2ft*1 1/2ft dimension. any suggestions for what MH lighting/pendant would work?

pick up a used AB 250w pendant. would cover that as long as you have enough space to hang it 18 inches or so over the water. should be ble to find one 75-100 range.

what does AB stand for? you think 150watts will not be enough? also should i look for a DE or a mogul base. it appears that the DE are what most pendants seem to be designed for.

I would go with a 250 watt pendant... I'm currently running a 250w over my 12" tall frag tank, and it's not too much light. Also 1 pendant will allow you some less intense areas toward the edge of the spread where you can place some lower light demanding corals.

I'm using the PFO Mini pendant, and it seems to cover the 30" length well... there also always seems to be Aquamedic fixtures for sale around the $150 or less range.

C-Sea/RC Member "Brad" had 2 pendants for sale... I'm not sure if he ever sold them or not though.

TJ what kind of bulbs would this ballast support. I would like to experiment with different k and possibly different makes of bulbs if possible. i know that is not true with any ballast but thought i would ask. Trying not to make an impulsive decision for a change!! But i really need it by Dec 26th!! lol...

Which ballast...? Your ballast will determine the bulbs you can fire. The M58 fires SE bulbs, and the M80 fires DE bulbs (I believe). Both the fixtures I listed above fire DE bulbs.

I'm currently using a PFO M80 Ballast w/ the PFO Mini-Pendant, and 250w DE Aqualine AB 20K bulb.
