Frag tank

Well basically I'm tired of all my frags cluttering up my main tank, so I'm turning my empty 90g into a frag tank. I've never had a frag tank and it wont be plumbed into my main tank, so do I need live rock? What about snails, hermit crabs, even some small fish? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

youll want some cleaners like those to keep the tank clean and also creating beneficial bacteria for the corals. Some of them feed off of that

Yeah, you will want all of the above. Essentially it is a whole new tank that you just don;t necessarily aquascape to make it look natural. If you can plumb it to your DT, you would be able to avoid all of that. In my eyes, that makes it worth it. Only time I wouldn;t plumb is if the frag tank would also be a fish quarantine, but it won't be (I don't think)

Imo you can easily get away alot less rock then the average tank I use less then 60 lbs for my 90G frag tank

I went with a HOB fuge with LR rubble, sand and chaeto. I have hermits and snails and a Sallie lightfoot to control detritus and algae.

I setup a 24x24x10 (25g) tank in my garage and I used a spare 40g breeder I had as a sump. I have maybe 20lbs of LR in it and I keep a tomato clown and angler in it. I recently put in some hermits to get the food that the clown doesn't eat.
