i have a couple of huge rocks in my tank where a frag plugged lps has grown off the plug and onto the rock, unable to get rock out of tank without collapsing whole shebang.

anyway, how do you guys frag lps off of unremovable rock?

You don't? I am assuming if you try to break the rock in the water you may end up with some trouble. What kind of corals are you talking about?

If its LR, generally its relatively easy to chisel it off. I just use a flat-head and a hammer, very gently tap underneath the encrusted frag and it should pop up. LR isn't that strong, especially underwater, in terms of its ability to crumble. Ive done it countless times with great success.

This will NOT work with dense rock!

If the rock is base, lace, or some kind of dense rock this method will not work. Generally the more dnese rocks will only create large shards wehn trying to chisel pieces off, which would wreck havoc on your tank.

HTH and GL!

trying to frag favias and acans..........
all my rock is the porous kind (crumbly when you chisel it, out of water chiseling is all the xp i have)
