Fragging Discomas and YUMAS

GET a sharp razor blade..i only cut yumas in half.. less stress..they way i do it is fist cut just short of the mouth, that way you can cut the mouth all at once witch would be you second cut.. then repeat on the other side...keep us posted..

So I slice them first and this encourages them to split into two later ?

Okay so how should I go about pulling a YUMA off a rock to give it to a friend !???!?!?!

after you cut in half they will heal , then you will have two..
my best advise on that cuz i learned the hard way is to put in a high flo erea an it will almost dislodge its self..some people cut it at the foot.. but like i said i put mine in a high flo erea..

Place them on a large rock.....around 6X6".....Feed them oyster eggs, rotifers, and Zoomax or cyclopeeze directly with a syringe every 3-4 nights......After about 4 weeks you will notice the rock with just have 10 new dime size babies on it.....Try it......Plus you get to keep you big yuma instead of two small ones.....

I have not tried this, but was told the most successful way to frag Yuma's is to take a slice out of the foot only. As it heals. the fragged piece of the foot will move out from under the mother to the light. I have yet to try it, but I plan to in the future.

i tried fragging a disco into thirds that was still attached on a rock and because the parts were still close enough to each other two parts just grew back together. I still got one new one because I cut it into thirds, but just keep in mind, they may grow back to "one" if they are still close enough.

I am going to try this....how do you recommend I use the syringe??

No needle of course....! But how exactly do I do this..?

I target feed mine but taking a 2 liter soda bottle, cut the bottom off, place this over the rock, and squirt food in through the top. This keeps fish from stealing food

I have both freeze dried and frozen cyclopeez.. the frozen stuff is a LOT easier to get to sink so make sure you're using that kind

I believe he's talking about one of these:

I use one as well (by his suggestion in another thread) and it works wonderfully. I had to cut the tip of it off to get a wider hole though.

I use the bottle over them to keep my fishes from stealing all the food....I also shut down my pumps and powerheads when I feed so the corals can hold on to the food.
