Fragging Xenia?

How do you do this without causing the coral too much stress?

I use a single edged razor to frag my xenia. Makes a quick clean cut. I would recommend fragging it outside the tank though. Makes quite a stink.

Stick a toothpick through the base of the new cut and rubber band the pick to some rock rubble. Or alternatively you could looslely net a couple on a larger rock and let them attach over a week or two.

I wait til the zenia is splitting and set a piece of rubble next to it, it starts to attach and then just like drumereef says one clean slice! Ready to cut!

When you see the trunk split like this then set the rubble next to the trunk and it will attach. The way I do it may take longer, I don't know, but the zenia is already attached and I don't have to worry about it attaching or floating under some coral...

by the way, I just acclimated that xenia. Its not in bad condition like it looks like.
