frags.org search interface

Hi -

Not sure how many people use or are aware of www.frags.org (I know Christina has a bunch of stuff listed there). I use it a bit but unfortunately have found the search interface on the site somewhat awkward.

So I made up a new (and hopefully better) search interface and put it in my own web space, each day it gets updated so that it includes anything at frags.org that has been updated within the past three months:

I'm talking with the people at frags.org about making it part of their site. I think it should be pretty self-explanatory as far as how to use it. If you do give it a try, please send me any feedback or suggestions for improving it.

Note: It may take a while to load at first because it's pulling in 500K of data. But once it's loaded all the rest of the work happens right in your browser and is pretty fast.

Seems like a great site but I wish it was sorted by state. I get fustrated scaning page after page looking for people close to me...thats why I like this site a lot. I have gotten many frags from nice people (including you Larry) and I know most people on here are realitively close. By the way Larry, what was that red pom pom looking frag that you sold me called? It has grown huge and I just fragged it myself. Just wondering. Thanks

Hi Melissa -

Yeah, unfortunately the way the data comes though it's "City, State" so sorting on that doesn't do much good. I know the frags.org people are working on a "proximity by zip code" kind of search, which would be cool. I'll see if I can do anything with the location info I'm grabbing off their site.

Best as I know it's a Cladiella, at least according to K (fishetcinc). Glad to hear it's doing well for you, they're pretty indestructible and grow pretty fast.

It is sorted by state just go to the search part of the site and twards the bottom it gives you a choice to search by state.
Just letting you know.

Cool thanks. I'll try that.

I found that site a while back, actually before I found this site, and also have wondered if alot of the people here are there and vice versa....

Searching by location works well - just go to the main page (frags.org) - in upper right hand corner you then navigate by "List of Frag Providers" - and then sort by location.... page 22 is where Colo starts....

I just fixed the location column on my page to display "State, City" instead of "City, State", so it sorts better.

Also added a text filter on location, so for example you could type "CO," in the location box and only display frags listed from Colorado.

Not true... "CO" in location also returns items from SC Columbia

Should split state and city into seperate entities(IMHO).

Yeah, but I said "CO," (note the comma) :)

Or "^CO" will match CO only at the beginning of the field.

That would be nice except not all the entries are in the US, e.g. there's one for Durban, South Africa.
