if you had no desire to upgrade to a larger tank(we all want to do that though) but if you did'nt would you glue frags to the wall of your tank?

just curious to know what you think

If you're asking: Would some of us glue Frags to the back tank glass? My answer is a conditional "Yes", but there's a better way. I'm working on doing exaclty that: Fragging to the Back Glass.

Here's how:
http://aqua-mags.com/

I want to get some GSP on the back like Tina mentioned, but right now I've got a nice Paly frag & Frogspawn going, using the Aqua-Mags.

thanks marty, but i'm talking frag to glass--no rock in between( i got the idea from garf.org( sally jo's bulletproof reef)

I have xenia and GSP on the back of my tanks. Just take a piece of GSP and super glue it to the glass. It will do the rest. Would be the same process for zoas, For xenia and other softies get a frag on a rock and lean the rock on the glass so the coral is touching it. It will move itself.

No I wouldn't because I think it looks stupid/silly/strange to have frags mounted to the glass like they are hovering in space whether it's directly to the glass ,the Aqua-mag, or by any other method. I think the Mag-Rocks present a better looking option if the are mounted in a way that they touch existing rock work. My concern with them is that the magnets are not very strong and I would worry that down the road they could slip and come off when the corals attached grew larger. You can take existing algae cleaning magnets and attach real or artificial rock to them by various methods to achieve a very realistic structure that you can attach to you back glass to achieve the results you are after.

I think the result he is after is one without rock, magnets, or anything other than glass and coral.
Whether anyone likes it or not should not be the question, Preston. It only matters what you like. The simple answer to the question of whether it can be done or not is "yes".
The methods to go about it are many.
I personally like the Aqua-Mags Deep Water Rocks. Will the corals get too heavy and make the magnet slip down??? - I think by the time they achieve that much growth, some of the coral will have attached itself to the glass also...preventing this from happening.
They also make Frag-mags that are designed to hold only one coral.
Dave points out that you can DIY one with an algae magnet and some live rock (or artificial live rock). That is another great option.

I agree except that he did ask so it apparently does matter to him to some extent but Richard is right. Just do your own thing baby. Just do it. :SWOOSH:

I think it looks cool. Better than a blank wall or just covered with coralline. With nanos you gotta use limited space creatively.

Star polyps, mushrooms, zoas, or any soft coral really...just lean it up against the tank, overflow, powerheads, whatever...it will grow on to it, and slowly move upwards towards the light.

Xenia and mushrooms on overflow.

Looks like the Carpeting in the "Mystery Machine" van from the '70's.

(It's cool!)
