Fragswap in Rochester, NY?

Well it looks like there is plenty of interest in a frag swap in the Rochester area and adding some lecturing and discussion would be great too!! What are some locations you all feel would be best to try and see if they are willing to host a swap/lecture? I'm not personally familiar with G from ABC pet city (I have spent plenty of money there though and at all the others!) but if there's plenty of room and he is willing to host one that would be amazing!! I could contact him and ask if he's interested or maybe someone who knows him well could? I think a frag swap anywhere would be cool and I really feel that if it's here in Rochester plenty of people will show up strictly because of location. Thoughts? Let's make this happen!!!!

Maybe G could chim in on when he thinks he might have his move completed. Without pressuring him on the time. It would be great going over there. The public aquarium space sounds like a cool idea.

Just my 2 cents but frag swaps are more like a flea market......Educational meetings are for just that, not saying that you couldn't do some trading but the main focus is the topic and speaker. Again just my 2 cents. It would be nice to have something annual for a frag meet in the Rochester area.

When I mentioned meetings I was referring to primarily educational seminars, not frag swaps.

Unfortunately (but truthfully) most people are more interested in coral trading/selling, as shown by the number of attendees at past meetings.

The move should be complete within two week. Trying to get things up and going as much as we can. Some tanks may be completed after the move is over. The meetings will begin this spring. If some of you would like to participate in coordinating these events, that would be great. I think an ongoing monthly club meeting can be informative and helpful as well as socially fun. And do an annual or semiannual frag swap on a larger scale.

I would be more than happy to coordinate a fragswap/meeting!! G-in the new shop will you have room for tanks to be set up for a swap? Based on the response to this thread I figure there's at least 15-20 people interested and I have about 10 people that would love to join in/set up frag tanks as well. Once we find a location we can go from there and set a date/time and rough "itinerary" and many more will jump on board as well.

Yeah J, a frag swap for the Rochester area would be awsome.

Umberto! I see you have found my thread on the Rochester Fragswap! Let's make it happen.

Anyone else interested in helping to coordinate a swap/promoting it etc? And I figure eventually it would be best to register the swap on fragswapper.com once things are official; that does a good job on getting the word out.

Hey everyone.

New to the hobby and the forum. I will be around here quite a bit.

Frag-swap sounds like a fantastic idea.

I am busy with a lot of projects at the museum, but I hope to schedule another one at the museum sometime this summer. I'll keep everyone posted.
