Frameless cube stand building questions

Was wondering if anyone had expirecence with building stand for a frameless tank (no bracing around top or bottom). I am see huge contradicting information on them. The manufacturer, marineland, states that the tank should not have a foam pad between the glass and the stand. They also recommend the stand to be open no center support. I find it hard to believe that the 93 gallon tank being 900+ lbs when running can be supported on an open stand. Any thoughs, pictures or plans would be helpful. I want to build my stand soon but cannot find any supporting detail. I just don't want to create pressure on the bottom and have the tank crack. Thanks in advance.

I'd go with what they say. Do you have it in writing? Can't be too safe! :)

I think that is typical of tanks where the sides don't sit ON the bottom but the bottom is up within the sides.

I just looked at their website. They recommend three stands. One you can't tell but of the other two, one has a solid top the other doesn't.

it is 900 pounds but only 36" long/wide. where would you even add a center brace? do you mean under the glass? don't do that.

I currently have the 60g frameless cube from Marineland, I purchased one of their stands as well, so I cannot attest to building a stand. However, the stand that they make has the tank only supported by about a half an inch on each side and completely open in the middle (allowing me to look up at the bottom of my sand bed from the sump). I would recommend using on of the Marineland stands so that way it doesn't void your warranty if something goes wrong (assuming it still has one).

Here the stand I made for my 25 gallon cube. Using quickframe from 80/20 http://www.8020.net/
here is the mat and delrin plastic I used under it.

You need the mat I was watching a club members system while he was out of town and the bottom of his frag system cracked because he did not have a mat under the tank cracked all the way across.

The Marineland rimless cube (or at least the 93) has a floated bottom glass panel on it. It isn't very much, but even on a stand with a full top the bottom glass would not be touching, only the outside edges.

I went with their stand for the warranty on mine, but even if I had not edge only support would have been fine.
