Frayed fins, little red spot...

Got new fish, two purple firefish and a royal gramma.

QT them. Added them to display tank.

Weeks later, fins are completely frayed, gramma has little red spot on fin. Fins were seriously almost gone. Fish could hardly swim. Some fish worse then others (firefish and gramma only). My two perculas looked fine.

Took the five fish out and QT them. Dosed with Fish Mox Forte and had them in QT for 2 months. Fish bounced back and looked great. Fins grew back. Fish eating really well. Spots gone, etc...

So im like okay... added them back to display tank. Firefish and gramma are now looking like crap again after only one or two weeks.

Are your Perculas attacking them when the lights go off?

I don't have experience with Percula, but the Ocellaris and Tomato clowns I have kept have been territorial about their end of the tank and will continuously patrol and attack invaders. In a smaller tank, a single Ocellaris will take possession of the entire tank if left alone for an extended period. I always recommend changing up the aquascape if you can when adding other fish to a tank that was previously inhabited by clownfish, or adding the clownfish last. Can't say for sure that is what is going on in your case, but it seems like a logical cause if it is only happening when you put them in with the Clownfish. I wish someone with more experience would chime in.

Im convinced the perculas are not nipping the other fish. Is it possible the other fish can have fin rot but not the percuals? Water parameters are stellar.

fin rot is caused by bacteria, so your DT likely has the bacteria causing it. It will usually only affect fish that are heavily stressed or compromised.... It could also be poor water quality. What is the size of the tank and have you tested water parameters? How much live rock and water movement do you have? What other tank inhabitants do you have? (corals, inverts) You have 5 total fish right? 2 percual, 2 firefish, 1 gramma? And you pulled them all out of the display and QT'd them if I'm reading it correctly. Which would point to aggression not being an issue.
