FREE FISH (for large fish only tank)

I am in the process of redoing my tank and would like to start keeping small fish again, so I am offering to give away my white spotted grouper (Epinephelus summana) for free. I have had him about 2 years and he has never consumed or bothered any fish in my tank. However, I know that some small clowns and other small fish will be too tempting for him. He is currently about 8" long and seems to be fairly slow growing as he was about 5-6" when I got him two years ago. I believe he maxes out around 18". It is fairly obvious but anything small enough to fit in his mouth (which is larger than you might think) is potential prey, including fish and shrimp in particular. He needs to be offered larger meaty foods like krill, shrimp, squid and chunks of frozen food. I hope to break down my tank this weekend so he should be available for pickup on Saturday. I wanted to offer him here first before I donate him back to the LFS. I do reserve the right to approve the size and type of system that he goes into before giving him away. Thanks!

Hay man I was interested in the fish you were wanting to give away. I don't have lots of time or would be more active in the forms. I currently have a 90 gallon mixed reef tank as well as a 125 fish only tank that would be a perfect home for him. Thank you. Here is my cell if you would like to text me. 727-418-4719. I currently live in Largo right off of east by so I'm not to far away. I am also available this weekend to pick it up if you are in a time crunch.

Hey Amp, Thanks for your interest, but this fish is going to need a minimum of 200+ gallons, ideally closer to 300. Even though it doesn't require the swimming space that an equivalent sized tang or angel would need, the 125 would not give him much room to even turn around at only 18" wide. It might be ok for a while in the 125 but it will definitely outgrow it. It also creates a lot of waste which is generally a little easier to manage in larger volumes of water.

Cool fish! If not for our bast**d Miniatus in the 700gal bar tank at Rumfish, I would take him - but that mix won't end well.
