free mantis

I have no idea what kind it is and I do not know if it will survive-I just FW dipped in an area after hearing loud popping noises and it was flushed out. It is only about 2 inches and I cant tell a color after the fw dip. It is in a glass and swimming and free to any one that wants it-it appears to be just fine in SW after the dip. Please PM

he is totally alive and swimming through the piece of LR in the bag. That is one tough SOB-he with stood a 5 minute fw iodine dip before I could fetch him out. He should live on to kill plenty!

WOW!!! I'm truly speechless. While I cannot see into the mind and heart of whomever put up that galaxy15 webpage, I HIGHLY suspect that I won't like them.

I've probably kept more mantis as pets personally than all of the reefers in STL have received as hitchhikers. In fact, I'm currently conducting a Stomatopod Keeping Workshop on another forum. This person (again, I could be wrong) seems to treat his mantis like a pit-bull in a death-match.

Mantis have been one of the most interesting animals I've ever kept in my life. Periodically, I have to feed them live foods so they don't lose their clubs in their next molt. However, this is merely feeding my mantis....not a death-match for immature teenage enjoyment. If you like death, put some kittens and/or puppies in a burlap sack with a brick and throw it into a pond. People who don't respect life have done that for years rather than spaying/neutering their animals.

That was an O.s. (Peacock Mantis) in the videos. They are never hitchhikers. I grab most hitchhikers with my bare hands. They aren't going to break your tank and they aren't going to hurt you either. If you kept a 1.5 inch crab in with it, the crab will win. Just so you know. Getting rid of it is a good idea.

I haven't seen it yet today. I fed the tank a small piece of shrimp and it ended up floating around for a while and then the anemone caught it. The shrimp has moved, it's not in it's original rock anymore.
