I know this is not reef related, but we have a Maroon Bellied Conure we'd like to give away to a good home. Jax is a real pretty bird, but has been known to nip your fingers at times. My wife and I just do not have the time to train him. Comes with cage. PM me if interested.

I'll take him if you can't find anyone to. I used to raise parrots for awhile. Is he a screamer like most conures?? I used to train birds as well, I have a hard time training my macaw though since he's got a much bigger beak, dangerous to be around at times....He's bit me a few times, but nothing too serious...Let me know the best time to pick him up, unless you want to bring him down this way. :)

Conures are real pretty birds for sure but they need so much love and time, time, time to train. Something I am short on thease days! My neighbor has a sun conure and a cockateil. They can be real loud as I am sure you know if they are board. Wish I had the time, I would love a bird one day. Hope he goes to a great home!

Maroon Belly Conures aren't as noisy as Sun Conures. They're more like Green Cheek Conures, more quiet natured. They can scream Yes, but not as bad as some of the other bigger cousin types of Conures like Sun, Nanday, Jenday, Golden Cap, etc. And as for Cockatiels, they just screeches, nothing compared to a Conure's vocal ability. I'm leaning more towards Green Cheek and Maroon Belly Conures myself since I held one at a pet shop one day and felt in love with it. I used to own a Jenday and a Nanday Conure. The Jenday died for some odd reason one day, I think the Nanday wouldn't let him eat, she was pretty bossy towards him. She lives with my best friend now, she likes him better from the very first day. And she screams like mad if he's not around....Birds are choosy, you have to let them choose you, not the other way around. Still, the screeching from a conure is really nothing compared to my Macaw. Now, he's a big time screamer. I will put him up when everyone is here at my house for the meeting next month cause I know he'll be screaming his head off when there's so many people around....He's not very social with other folks since he only bonds with me. :)

Michael; I'd be more than happy for you to give him a home. My wife and I were hoping someone with some bird experience would want him. We could make arrangements for you to come up here, or possibly meet down your way somewhere. Don't know where Antioch is unless it's near Bass Pro Shops or the Titans stadium...LOL

Id be interested to if micheal decides against it. Ive always wanted a bird I think there awesome.

When are you heading to Bass Pro shop next?? Gimme a call and we'll make an arrangement. (615)397-6565
I don't mind going to Clarksville to pick him up, but my next two days off are booked. I'm changing jobs so it's kinda tough to give up the whole day. Just give me a call when you get a chance, thanks! We would love the bird and give him a nice home!!! :)
