Frogspawn lost it's head!

I was taking a last look at my tank tonight and I noticed the head of my week old (to my tank) frogpawn had "fallen off" on to a piece of live rock about a foot below. Is the stalk it came on part of the organism...or can the "head" grow wherever it wants?

Without a picture to go on, I would assume there is no tissue on the stalk where it broke off. This being the case, only the head will continue to grow. If there is some tissue left behind on the stalk, there is a chance that small buds will form and continue to grow.
