Frogspawn placement/growth?

So... pretty new to corals. I have a frogspawn plug that I buried in the sand. He's been doing pretty well for the past few weeks, tentacles come out daily and he gets a bit larger than what he was in the store. The question:

Will this coral get much larger sitting in the sand alone or does he need some rock to grow on?

It will do fine on sand but may open more on rock in middle of aquarium depending on amount of light. If you do decide to raise it closer to lights do so slowly in steps instead of straight to the top. Make sure you glue it in because it can die if it falls off and lands upside down in the sand. Feeding with frozen Mysis or enriched brine shrimp will improve growth rate.

I would say it depends on your light setup and how powerful they are... In my BioCube29, my frogspawn grew much more being closer to the light source (glued to top of a rock peak) compared to when it was down in the lower portion of the tank.

I have a 60 gallon cube with nova extreme t5 lights. I have a huge frogspawn about 30 heads. I have it mid ways in tank on my rocks kind of on the back/side of the tank with low/med flow and it loves it. It always extends fully out.
