My frogspawn has been closed up for some time now. 95% of everything else is doing great. Even SPS. I dipped it in Coral Cure twice. Still nothing. It doesn't look like it is dying. Just doesn't open all that much anymore.
Any advice???
Due for a water change in a couple days. Maybe I will do a little larger one than normal and see what happens....
All parameters are where they should be using Salifert test kits.

Might just try moving it to an area of lower flow and see what happens. Not sure how much flow is hitting it now, but that can have alot to do with it.

I tried moving it twice. I cannot see anything on it. If something was on it, I would imagine that the Coral Cure would of taken care of that....hmmmmmm it is in a low flow area now.

How long has it been closed up? My Euphyillia's will close up for a few days then poop and a day or two later they are fully extended ready to go.

Brian, When you noticed the change, had you increased your lighting or started running your Alk at a lower level than you used to? These are two things that have made mine open up much less in my experience. Probably neither... but figured it wouldn't hurt to share just in case. :)

Is it near anything that could be bothering it? From my experience it's not normal for them to be closed up that long.

I wouldn't think it has anything to do with my water. 95% of my coral is doing better than ever. I checked everything I could with my salifert kits....hmmmmm weird.
Only thing I cannot test is phosphates.

interceptor to the rescue! if you don't want to do the whole tank yet, pull it out. give it a good long healthy dip, and put it back. If it was bugs, you'll know it. Then you will know you'll want to dose the whole tank.

Any aiptasia near it? I have a 15+ head of frogspawn and three heads toward the bottom of it are closed most of the time. I believe that it is due to the nearby aiptasia.

Sometimes in a mixed reef the chemical warfare can be rough. Have you or do you run Carbon? If not run some to help to settle the battle

agreed on the carbon, brian. Can't remember if you had that running or not...before i started using the carbon, i never really knew how NOT OPEN my stuff was. If you don't have a reactor, you can get a stocking, put some in that and put it in your sump. Bet you see a difference.
