Frogspawn question

Can someone tell me what is going on with this frogspawn. It was purchased about a week ago from someone leaving the hobby. This is what it looked like after I placed it in the tank. It seems to be doing well other than the fleshy looking part. Can that part be snipped off, or should I just leave it alone?

It could be an example of coral polyp extrusion.

Just a follow up post. It has made a full recovery! And here it is now
