In this growing hobby it seems everyone is looking to find the next new thing. From tiny vase systems to dual nano systems to enormous in wall systems. Everyone shares a similar goal. We want to recreate a little piece of the reef in our own homes. To share with friends and relatives. We feel great pride when someone says, "Wow!"
Often we hear people compliment our systems and we are proud of our success. It seems everyone knows how much work these systems are. They also know how expensive they are. Sometimes we may even see our reef as a status symbol in our home. Like having a fancy car in the driveway.
During the course of creating our little oceans we seem to forget just where these animals come from. They were not born into suburbia nor were they expecting they would have to live the rest of their lives confined by our glass walls. Watching our big dumb faces staring at them through our low iron, rimless glass tanks.
Massive amounts of our natural reefs are diminishing and most of us are very aware of this. Although this happens our hobby continues to grow and thrive.
