Fromia star - regenerating

I purchased a fromia (sp) sea star a few months ago. Was very careful to tell the store clerk to not touch it and not expose it to air. I know its hit or miss with these but my reef tank is fairly mature and my girls really wanted it.

After about a month, it started to degenerate and eventually lost 4 of 5 legs and most of the body. I forgot to take it out of the tank and as time passed I thought it became part of the bio mass.

Two night ago, my 6 yr old says she saw an orange and white star leg on the bottom of the tank. Sounded odd to me but I thought maybe the crabs, urchins, fish, shrimp, etc hadn't eaten it and it was rotting behind my rock work.

To my surprise, this is what I found.......(see photo gallery)

Very interesting. This is probably the first time I've heard of one of these guys actually recovering once they got to that state. Congrats.

I was pretty excited to see it alive and regrowing its body and limbs. Regenerative properties of these guys is pretty amazing.
