shrimps, scallops, and what else could i possibly get from publix to chop up for my fish?..

and can some of these foods be cooked and then put back in the freezer???

Fish (meat), mussels, squid, sea weed, the list is endless. I would not recommend cooking the food, food in the ocean is never cooked, why cook your fish food?

Don't get the frozen stuff either. Its likely that they have phosphates that they add to stop freezer burn. Try to get fresh sea food.

I use

Mantis’ Prime Reef Food

Roughly equal parts:
-shrimp
-oysters
-mussels
5 live clams
Mix the above ingredients in a blender, until coarsely blended.

Then stir in the following ingredients:
1 container sushi eggs
big chunk of Cyclopeze
1 tsp Spirulina powder
2 tsp Golden Pearls powder
You can also add a couple squirts of selcon, vita-chem, or garlic extract.

Pour into Ziploc bags, and freeze flat.

I use the mixed seafood in the frozen seafoods dept at Publix to make my own fish food. It's shrimp, squid mussels clams, etc in a single bag for about $4 /pound. I use it raw.

Also it doesn't have phosphates. Phosphates are added to "fresh" seafood to retard spoilage. Because freezing retards spoilage it isn't added to frozen products. In addition Publix is very good about labeling seafood. In their "fresh" cases, their seafood is labeled "wet" (phosphates added) or "Dry" (no phosphates).

I also add sushi wrap, some RO/DI water (so it doesn't get too thick) and selcon.

As pointed out freeze it flat in ziplock bags with no air and it won't get freezer burn. I use sandwich sized bags so I can use smaller amounts without opening /compromising the whole batch.

Suggestion if you decide to add squid to your mix - cut it up into smaller pieces before grinding them up. I threw 4 baby squid into my mix last time I made some, and some portions of the squid were so stringy it seized up my blender's blades, causing my blender to heat up and start smoking. :-)
