Yes, you've read it right. $100. I've had this tank for 5 years and purchased it from a friend. It has spent the last 2 years in a storage container collecting dust. I recently moved the tank into my new home with a plan on setting it back up but decided to splurge on a larger rimless set up. I want this tank gone before my new set up arrives.
This is a 75 gal display featuring a Bean Animal overflow (almost coast to coast) with all the necessary plumbing. It's got its fair share of scratches but nothing too major. I think at one point it may have had a leak as it's got extra silicone in the left back corner but it was before my time. I filled up the tank just now for a week and it held water just fine.
The sump is a 40 gal custom set up with 3 large chambers. Reef Octopus skimmer PSK 2500 is included. This thing is a beast. The sump also held water for a week.
Now onto the problems the new owner has to take care of:
1. When I filled up the display tank 2 of the 3 bulkheads developed very small leaks. I'd say 1 drop of water formed every 5 mins. A smidge of silicone should fix this right up.
2. The skimmer pump can be temperamental. Sometimes when unplugged and plugged back in, it chooses not to start. You have to give it a thunk to get the propeller going and then it works just fine until unplugged again. It doesn't happen every time but be aware.
3. The sump held water for a week without an incident. Before draining it I dumped a bunch of vinegar in it to loosen up dried algae and gunk. After draining I noticed the silicone around the bottom perimeter has turned black and brown. I can't find much info on it online but my guess is it's bacterial or maybe rust from something back in the day. Don't know. Don't remember if it was always like that. Even though it holds water I would suggest maybe re-siliconing the bottom of the sump to be on the safe side.
4. The stand was made by its original owner and it's solid. That thing will outlive us all. Now the doors and canopy for the stand were made by yours truly. I macgyvered them with some wood and stain so you may want to design something of your own liking.
That's it in terms of problems. This is a fantastic diy fail safe set up. I had it up and running for 3 years and it's a great beginner tank. I'm located in River North, Chicago. Pick up only. Cash or Venmo.
