ummm were you trying sales@exoticreefs.us - were you getting a reject message. I'm wondering if I have issues with my mail server.

I will double check when I get home what the model of the pump is. I think though it is a sedra 5000. There are a few places online and you can do a search 'sedra 5000 impeller'. This one came up:

FYI the skimmer needs cleaning too (lots of coralline and left over gunk) and is priced as such.

ummmm. that has me concerned about my mail server. I wonder if a lot of people are getting the same thing.

It is about 1.5 years old but I only used it for about 3 months and it is in very good shape. there is only a minor crack at one of the top joints but it is no where critical and doesn't leak.

I'll try to take a picture tonight or by weekend.

Out of curiosity, how does this work? I mean how well does it work? Can you use sand ? Doesn't seem hard to make either.

It's basically a cylinder in which you force water from bottom up and the idea is to fluidize the media. Conventional filters are top down and the disadvantage of that is compacted media with reduced and channelized flow. By suspending the media you are using it much more efficently by taking advantage of passing water through significantly more media area. If you're pretty hand and have some time you should be able to make one.
